Technology and STEAM Learning

A STEAM education incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering the Arts and Mathematics to solve real world problems using project-based learning. The rapid emergence of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, nanotechnology, 3D printing, laser cutting, and the ‘internet of things’, has resulted in business and industry leaders looking for people with liquid skills. These skills include the ability to work with others, effectively communicate, demonstrate creative and critical thinking and have a disposition toward lifelong learning.

At St Rita’s College students engage with STEAM based learning throughout the junior school and can specialise by electing to study a STEAM based subject in the senior school.

Students feel empowered when they make decisions about their own learning through risk taking, engaging in experiential learning, persistence in problem solving, embracing collaboration working through the creative process. These are the innovators, educators, leaders and workers of the 21st century.
